چکیده

There are several reported cases of successful endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in patients with concomitant horseshoe kidney, in which accessory renal arteries were sacrificed. We describe a case of horseshoe kidney and AAA in which a surgical vascular conduit to accessory renal arteries created favorable anatomy for endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) while preserving renal perfusion. Although there are inherent risks in both open and endovascular AAA treatment when anatomic anomalies are present, combined therapies may provide a satisfactory and safe alternative, as reported in this case.

Hybrid Repair of an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: Debranching with Endovascular Aneurysm Repair in a Patient with Horseshoe Kidney

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) with associated horseshoe kidney (HSK) poses a technical challenge when performing conventional open surgical repair because of possible complications including renal infarction, neuralgia, and collecting system disruption. Endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) is considered the first-line treatment for this pathology, allowing for aneurysm repair without isthmus bis...

An Aortoenteric Fistula Arising after Endovascular Management of a Mycotic Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Complicated with a Psoas Abscess

Mycotic aortic aneurysms account for 1–3% of all aortic aneurysms. The management of this disease is controversial. Since open surgical repair is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, endovascular aneurysm repair is an alternative treatment method with promising early and midterm outcomes, although its long-term durability is unknown.Secondary aortoenteric fistulas may occur iatro...
